Ever feel like you’re putting your heart into every post, every project, every idea… and it’s like you’re just throwing it into the void?
(Hello 🎤 is this thing on?)
You’re not alone.
We’ve all been there: staring at a post, refreshing the page, and wondering, “Did anyone even see this? Does anyone actually care?”
Cue the spiral:
🙁 Clearly, no one cares.
😖 Why am I even doing this?
😭 I should just quit.
Here’s the thing: the silence? It’s not the end of the story. In fact, it might not mean what you think it means at all.
The truth is, there’s a whole group of people out there who I like to call “silent scrollers.” These are the folks quietly taking in what you’re sharing—your words, your ideas, your art—but they’re not clicking that like button or dropping a comment for whatever reason.
Maybe they’re shy. Maybe they’re busy. Or maybe they’re just not the kind of person who reacts online. But trust me, they’re out there, absorbing your work and feeling inspired in ways you might never know.
Sometimes, a friend will reach out about something unrelated and then say, “Oh yeah, I really liked your last post..”, and I think, “What?!? you NEVER interact with me online!”?
But think about it: how often have you read or seen something that moved you deeply, but you didn’t take the time to react or engage? It happens all the time. And it’s a reminder that the impact of what we create isn’t always immediately visible.
Here’s the good news: every post, every project, and every creative effort you share sends ripples out into the world. Even if you don’t see the splash right away, it’s happening.
Your work might be sparking someone’s creativity, helping them through a tough day, or giving them the nudge they need to keep going in their own journey.
So, instead of focusing on the reactions (or lack thereof), focus on why you’re creating in the first place. Are you sharing because you believe in what you’re doing? Because it lights you up? Because you hope it might connect with even one person?
If the answer is yes, then keep going. Keep sharing. Because the right people are out there, even if they’re just like that quiet friend who’s cheering you on from the sidelines.
You don’t need the whole world to cheer you on for your work to matter.
Every post, every project, every creative spark you share is a ripple. And those ripples have a way of turning into waves, even if you can’t hear the splash yet.
So, if you’ve been feeling discouraged, consider this your reminder: you’re not shouting into the void. You’re creating, connecting, and making an impact—even if it’s in ways you can’t yet see.
Keep going. The world needs what only you can create.
